People must get the time to do some outdoor activities. Being under the sun and around nature does wonders for your health. However, some people don’t have the time or means to travel all the way to some recreational spot. You can bring outdoor activities to you by installing these cool outdoor structures in your home.

Outdoor Gym

Soak up the sun while staying fit at the same time; an outdoor gym is great for those that want a nice view while working out. While it hardly makes a difference in your performance, it provides all the same health benefits and then some. With outdoor gyms, you can get your daily vitamin D dose and have better airflow because of the natural setting. For those that are surrounded by nature, this also has the benefit of improving your mental health.

Even though you intend to bask in the sun, it is also important to have some shade. Direct sunlight can also be harmful in excess, especially the ones near and after noon. Make sure you set up your gym under a patio or carport. The shade will keep harmful UV rays away and would provide relief from intense summers. This also protects your equipment from bad weather.

However, one thing to note is that machines such as treadmills and other similar equipment might degrade faster when outdoors. These also rely on electricity, so it is best to proceed with caution when placing them outside. A covered area is always better for these items.

Basketball Court

For those that live with others or kids, a home basketball court is a great way to stay active. Unlike other courts, this can be done even in a small space because you don’t need a full court if you are just one person. It has a lot of benefits, especially for men who have children or younger siblings.

Home courts are a great way to keep yourself and your family active. Aside from that, the sport itself helps with socializing because you can invite other kids in the neighborhood to play. With more kids around, you can use this as a chance to teach them about good sportsmanship and fair play.

Climbing Wall

If you want more thrill or excitement, then getting your own climbing wall is the perfect addition to your home. This can actually be extremely flexible because you can do it on the exterior of your home or inside a separate room. It is a great way to work out, plus it is just fun to have all around. Contrary to how it seems, wall climbing is actually a low-impact sport, and it is both a cardio and strength exercise. This also improves your overall flexibility.

When building your own climbing wall at home, the best areas are the ones that have natural slopes and inclines because that means less work in adding those in. Before anything, make sure that you are confident in the strength of your exterior. Some recommend them to be about eight feet high and eight feet wide, but you can also go as high as 14 feet if you are a single adult.

Even if you are already a seasoned climber, you should never forget to put padding on the floor below the wall. Outdoor walls also have their own padding. Choose material that is shock absorbent and thick enough that the ground below won’t leave a mark. It is also best to make sure that it is installed over some cement or wood and not directly over the ground.

Pool

The most obvious yet arguably the best option is a pool at home. Swimming is a great form of exercise because it causes minimal injuries and does not put a strain on your body. It also improves lung capacity and reduces cardiovascular problems. If you have the space for it, getting a pool at home is a great choice, even if it is just a standard 25-meter one.

Aside from swimming, there are all sorts of games that you can do in a pool. Water polo and other games are also possible ways to stay active. More than that, pools will be a huge relief during the summer because you don’t have to go to the public club anymore. Those tend to be overly crowded and mildly unsanitary, so a private pool solves all of that. If you are worried about the cleaning, you can also make it partially covered instead.
